Good article, but it’s 10 years old and sadly nothing much seems to have changed in mens fashion. However, “awareness” of equality in clothing is a big talking point now so at least things are going in the right direction.
Hollywood will have to set the example or the sports scene. Just saw Jamie Bower wearing a skirt.
Despite the article being ten years old and the fact ten years later there are not hordes of men wearing dresses, let’s not despair.
Ten years ago, the only time I wore a skirt or dress was rarely on Halloween. Now I wear almost daily.
Let’s face it. There will be no declaration announcing men can wear skirts/dresses. God will not make any announcements and governments will not pass any laws mandating the acceptance of men wearing skirts.
I think Hollywood stars wearing skirts/dresses are great because they provide exposure and we can always state, if Brad Pitt can wear a skirt, why can’t I!
But the real change happens only when real men wear skirts unabashedly with confidence and when asked proudly state that yes, we were skirts because they’re comfortable. And oh yes, women compliment us all the time on them.
When the comfort factor and feminine compliments become known, there still will be no proclamation, but it’ll catch on.
